Seventeen days and I get on a plane to fly home! I couldn't be more excited about that! Sometimes I tell Alex he may have a hard time getting me back on the plane to return to Manila once we're there...
I love having a Bible study to work on throughout the week, helping me to connect with and understand God's word. My daughter and husband are better at just reading the word and getting tons out of it...I need some help. This year I've done several studies by Beth Moore. In between the studies, I find myself feeling a longing to start one again.
Several days ago I finished the last Bible study book I brought to Manila with me for this year. I actually kinda dragged it out at the end, so it would last longer. I thought that I would start experiencing that dry feeling when I'm not working through a lesson regularly.
But GOD. Today I was so blessed by the time of singing praises at church! My thoughts immediately were "I can praise the Lord, even with 'no Moore.'" (Beth Moore that is...) He alone can fill me with joy! As I've listened (quite often) to John Piper sermons over the last two years, one theme is repeated. GOD is our treasure....not the things He gives us.
My life in Wisconsin, my children, my family and friends, etc., can easily become my treasures! OH, how God has blessed me in those areas!!!!!! But HE is our greatest treasure FAR above everything! I am reading through the Bible this year (again) and I wrote down a verse I want to memorize: Psalm 73:25-26 "Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And besides Thee, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, BUT GOD is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!" There is nothing that is beside God...everything else falls far short of Him as our treasure!...or should!
He continues to teach me as I take one step at a time. Thanks for letting me share that with you!

Hey Chris:
Thanks for your encouraging words today. I am a HUGE fan of Beth Moore and have done most of her studies, but your right in that HE is our treasure and we can get all we need for the day through HIM. Hey glad to hear you are coming home to Wisconsin, the weather has finally turned for the better...........

Hey, little sis!
If you're out of Bible study materials and sermons to listen to, you should check out Jonathan's current series. It's awesome! Here's the link to the overview. Click on "listen online" to download individual sermons.
Hugs,
Ellen

Hi Chris~
I wanted to let you know that I'm very encouraged by your blogs and appreciate your insight into seeing life with the big picture. Many times I'm reminded, while reading your thoughts, that it's not about me, but all about bringing glory to our God. So thank you.
And I'm looking forward to saying Hi real soon :)
