Blessed to Have a Torn ACL

Can we praise God together?! Ever since I tore my ACL playing volleyball on December 17, 2009, I’ve been compiling a list of blessings. Blessings not in spite of my predicament…but because of it. Because I know God is good…and does what is best for me and all those who love Him. Here’s my list so far:

#1 It is much easier to shave my knee when it is swollen like a balloon. heehee

#2 Alex, due to my discomfort, finally agreed on getting a new office chair instead of the plastic one we were using that made my leg fall asleep.

#3 Since my broken leg 6 years ago was on my left leg, and my torn ACL is on my right leg, the deterioration from both injuries will once again make my legs even.

#4 I will have months of therapy at Moro Clinic where I can share with several people about what a great God You are!

#5 I will be eventually doing my gym exercises in Ateneo College’s gym, which is air conditioned and has good equipment. Maybe I’ll be in even better shape when I’m done with therapy than before the injury!

#6 Okay, here’s my new one today… Alex needs to drive me to therapy every day (about a half hour drive away) since I cannot drive in my condition. He had planned to work on his Threads of Hope orders via email while I was working out (for 3 to 4 hours each day, four days a week!). BUT, there is no free wi-fi in the area.

Just yesterday, a missionary friend told Alex that the people from the tribe he has ministered to (where Alex had visited previously) had invited Alex to join them on a fishing trip in the jungle in early April. (Awesome opportunity!!! I’m so jealous!) The missionary said to Alex, “But Alex, you need to get in good shape before we go…it will be harder than anything you’ve ever done with me so far.”

TOTALLY out of character, my husband signed up to work out at the Ateneo College gym while I’m in therapy! This will be so good for him! And who knows? He may also be able to reach out and share Christ with people in the gym! Isn’t that amazing?!

I’m so grateful that the Lord does not allow us to lag too far behind. He is building our character and strength to prepare us to be great warriors for Him. I can (and would) do NOTHING on my own in His direction! Any good in me is a direct result of Him over-riding me and my self-centeredness. All praise and glory to Him!!!!
